Ever encountered an 8ft snake in central London?
Well let’s just say if we can handle a boa constrictor at our venue, then we can definitely handle your booking…
The remarkably well-behaved reptile was a special guest at our Barbican venue recently, as part of the annual London City Selection agency familiarisation weekend on 24-25 February – an event which gave agents a chance to visit some of the capital’s most fascinating and flexible venues.
This year’s weekend had a Game of Thrones theme, and at CCT Venues we fully embraced the magical, medieval feel of the popular TV series. Unable to source a house-trained fire-breathing dragon in time, our boa buddy ‘Belle’ gave visitors a warm, if cold-blooded, welcome and enjoyed a few tummy tickles from the bravest guests.
Despite the fact that agents visited our Barbican venue around noon on a Saturday, we transformed the Sun Restaurant into a space fit for a medieval feast, with flags, cauldrons and fire – and a fitting menu designed and created by award-winning Executive Head Chef, Jamian Lewis and his team of talented chefs.
Delighted delegates tucked into the juiciest cuts from a whole Dingley Dell pig, slow roasted the medieval way and served with apples, roots and shoots. Our chefs also served up a whole leg of fallow deer with wild herbs, ancient spices and berries, plus slow-cooked corn-fed chicken and a whole salmon. Also on the menu was a vegan stew, served in carved out artisanal bread bowls, with dumplings and a host of fresh vegetables.
The delicious desserts included a traditional apple & currant pie (baked in a traditional medieval way), and medicinal-inspired fruit possets. We know our Executive Head Chef Jamian Lewis delights in devising innovative recipes, but that was a new one even for him.
“I was delighted to welcome our agency partners to our Barbican venue,” says Aurelia D’Souza, Head of Sales at CCT Venues and London City Selection Board Member.
“This year, our agents experienced the competition for the Iron Throne of London in our very own A Game of Venues. The event was a fantastic opportunity to showcase not only our Central London meeting space, but also the amazing food freshly made by our team of innovative chefs. Of course, our very own scaly ‘dragon’ surprise went down a treat too!
“We look forward to taking part in the 2019 annual agency familiarisation trip and welcoming the next group of agents to our venue.“
